What we store
Your name (as you'd like to be greeted), email, language, the tastings you save (drink, rating, flavor tags, notes, whether you'd buy it) and your check-ins at a venue.
One account with Sip Notes
OKAERI and the Sip Notes journal share one sign-in. Each app keeps its own data. Deleting your account removes your data from both.
Who sees what
Your tastings and notes are yours. A producer sees your name and email only if you turn on sharing with that producer, and you can turn it off anytime. Producers see visit counts and ratings only as totals.
Notes tasting-room staff may keep
Staff at a tasting room may keep short notes about your taste, such as “likes dry, fruity sake”, so they can suggest a pour next time. These notes are for taste preferences only, never health or personal details, and only that tasting room's staff can see them. If you've chosen to share your contact with that tasting room, they may link the notes to your OKAERI account; deleting your account deletes linked notes.
Deleting staff notes
To have notes about you deleted, ask the staff at the tasting room (they can delete them on the spot), or email us at the address below with the tasting room's name and we'll make sure they're removed.
AI
To write your palate summary and suggestions, your own tastings and the venue's current pour list are sent to our AI provider, Groq. When tasting-room staff ask OKAERI what to pour you, their notes about your taste and the current pour list are sent the same way. Nothing else is sent, and we don't sell your data.
